PDF, up to 25 MB

This tool uploads your file to our server. PDF to Word needs server-side processing, so your file is sent over HTTPS and handled using temporary server files in a separate job directory. Cleanup is attempted when processing ends, but immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed. Don't use this tool for files you can't upload to a third party.

Why convert PDF to Word?

PDFs are built to be read, not rewritten, which is a problem the moment you need to change one. Maybe a colleague sent the only copy of a proposal as a PDF, a supplier's price list needs updating, or you want to lift three paragraphs out of an old report into a new document. Retyping it all by hand is slow and introduces errors. Converting the PDF back into an editable Word file gives you a real .docx to work from: headings, paragraphs, lists and tables become live text you can revise, restyle and reuse.

This is the everyday rescue for a handful of common situations:

  • Editing a document whose original source file is lost
  • Reusing sections of a contract or report as a template
  • Correcting a typo or figure without recreating the whole file
  • Pulling quotes and data into a new piece of writing

It helps to know what to expect, because PDF and Word describe a page in fundamentally different ways. A PDF pins every character to a fixed coordinate; Word thinks in flowing paragraphs and styles. Recreating that structure is genuine analysis, so text-heavy documents convert beautifully, while multi-column layouts, precise tables and heavy graphics usually need a little cleanup afterward. A scanned PDF is really just a photo of a page with no digital text inside, so it won't produce editable text without running OCR first.

This conversion uses LibreOffice on our server, so your PDF travels over HTTPS and is processed using temporary server files in a separate job directory. Cleanup is attempted when processing ends, but immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed. Uploads are limited by size, page count and rate to keep the service fast and fair.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

Yes. This tool uses LibreOffice on our server. Your file is sent over HTTPS and processed using temporary server files in a separate job directory; cleanup is attempted when processing ends, but immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed.

How accurate is the conversion?

Text-based PDFs convert well into editable text. Because PDF and Word structure documents very differently, complex layouts (multiple columns, precise tables, or heavy graphics) may need some cleanup after conversion. PDFs that are just scanned images contain no text to extract and won't produce editable text without OCR.

What if my PDF is a scan?

A scanned PDF is essentially a picture, so there's no digital text to convert. You'd need optical character recognition (OCR) first. We plan to add an OCR tool in the future.

Is there a size limit?

Yes, 25 MB and up to 200 pages per file for server conversions.
