This tool uploads your file to our server. Word to PDF needs server-side processing, so your file is sent over HTTPS and handled using temporary server files in a separate job directory. Cleanup is attempted when processing ends, but immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed. Don't use this tool for files you can't upload to a third party.

Why convert Word to PDF?

A Word file is a working draft; a PDF is a finished document. The moment you send a .docx to someone else, you lose control of how it looks: their copy of Word, a different set of installed fonts, or a phone's mobile viewer can reflow your carefully placed text, push a table onto a new page, or renumber a list. A PDF freezes the layout exactly as you designed it, so page one stays page one and the signature line never drifts. That reliability is why almost every organization asks for PDFs when a document is meant to be read rather than edited.

Converting creates a fixed-layout copy that is less convenient to edit casually, but it is not tamperproof. Review the output before sharing: conversion can preserve visible tracked changes or comments that were present in the source. That matters most for the documents people share every day:

  • Résumés and cover letters submitted to job portals
  • Contracts, invoices and quotes sent to clients
  • Reports and proposals circulated to a team or committee
  • Forms and letters that need a consistent, printable layout

For the conversion, fonts, tables, headers and embedded images are rendered by LibreOffice on our server, much as a desktop office suite would render them. Your file is sent over HTTPS and processed using temporary server files in a separate job directory. Cleanup is attempted when processing ends, but immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed. A quick tip for the cleanest result: embed or stick to common fonts before converting, since the engine substitutes the closest match for anything exotic, which can nudge spacing on complex layouts.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

Yes. This tool uses LibreOffice on our server. Your file is sent over HTTPS and processed using temporary server files in a separate job directory; cleanup is attempted when processing ends, but immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed.

Which formats are supported?

Modern Word documents (.docx) and legacy Word files (.doc).

Will my formatting be preserved?

For standard documents (text, headings, lists, tables, images) formatting is preserved well. Very complex layouts or unusual custom fonts may shift slightly, since the converter substitutes the closest available fonts.

Is there a size limit?

Yes, 25 MB per file for server-side conversions.

Is it really deleted?

Cleanup of the temporary job directory is attempted when processing ends, on success or failure. Immediate or secure deletion cannot be guaranteed.
